In today’s Group A clash between India and Canada, former cricketer Aakash Chopra is expecting Virat Kohli to regain his form and grab the Player of the Match award, if the match does not get washed away due to rain or unplayable conditions. Kohli has managed to score only five runs in three innings in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
Team India are going to face Canada in their last group stage match in Lauderhill, Florida on Saturday, June 15. But the weather could become a big obstacle for tonight’s match, as the first two matches at this venue got abandoned without a ball being played due to bad weather and a wet outfield.
Leading up to the match, former cricketer Aakash Chopra, in his YouTube channel, stated that the Canadian team shouldn’t pose a threat to India. He also expressed his hope that senior players like Kohli, Rohit, Jadeja and even Kuldeep, if he plays tonight, should give excellent performances.
“I don’t see any threat in the opposing team because the Florida pitch does not pose any threat. If it had been New York, I would have said that you need to tread cautiously. I am not seeing any threat from Canada. I feel India will be in a very decent space,” said Aakash Chopra.
Winning three matches in a row, the Indian team is currently flying high in confidence. Canada, on the other hand, are placed at the fourth position in Group A, with just one point above bottom-placed Ireland. With no hopes of progressing to the next stage, Canada could prove like a last thorn in India’s way as they have nothing to lose from here on.
Further adding, he said, “I feel, if this match happens, Virat Kohli could be the Man of the Match. I am expecting runs from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s bats. In bowling, if Kuldeep Yadav plays, I am expecting at least three wickets from him. I feel Ravindra Jadeja will eventually come to the fore as well and pick up wickets.”
The India vs Canada T20 match will take place in Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, and is scheduled to start from 8:00 pm IST.
