New Delhi, June 14, 2024 — The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has urged the Madhya Pradesh government to relocate Hindu children from madrasas to regular schools. This request is based on concerns that madrasas do not meet the educational standards required by the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
Why This Is Important ?
Priyank Kanoongo, the Chairperson of NCPCR, emphasized the importance of ensuring that Hindu children are enrolled in schools that comply with the RTE Act. The RTE Act mandates free and compulsory education for all children aged 6 to 14. Many madrasas, which are Islamic educational institutions, lack the necessary facilities and infrastructure to meet these standards.
“We urge the MP government to withdraw Hindu children from madrasas and enroll them in regular schools,” said Priyank Kanoongo.
Safety and Educational Concerns
In Madhya Pradesh, 9,417 Hindu children are currently enrolled in 1,755 registered madrasas. Kanoongo raised concerns about the safety and quality of education provided in these institutions. He believes that transferring these children to regular schools will improve their learning conditions and ensure their safety.

The commission wants the government to relocate Hindu children to schools that comply with the RTE Act.
