CUET-UG is the single exam required for admission in 46 Central universities at the UG level including Delhi University
As the National Testing Agency (NTA) is under fire after the NEET-UG controversy, the controversy may delay the Central University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) results and shut the light on the UG admissions dates across central universities.
CUET-UG is the single examination required for admission in many UG programs at 46 central universities along with Delhi University (DU), Allahabad University, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU). This year, the entrance exam was conducted in multiple batches between May 15 and May 31 in mixed format – online as well as pen-paper mode.
According to NTA’s bulletin board, the date of the CUET-UG result declaration will be June 30, a high-ranking official at the agency said that it is highly improbable to meet the deadline under the current circumstances. The agency official also mentioned that the exam provisional key, in all circumstances, will be released next week. The agency afterward will take “a week to 10 days” to release the final result.
This admission would be delayed for all the participating universities, according to the information provided. The second phase of DU, which consists of students indicating their college and program preferences on the online portal, cannot start unless CUET-UG results are out. The university was planning to open admission portal for phase two by July 2.
DU officials said “Although there’s no communication to us on results delay, if there’s one, we don’t have an option but to adjust our calendar accordingly,” said a DU official. This year, 71,000 seats will be filled based on CUET-UG and the university was thinking of starting the new academic year by August 1.
However, the result for CUET-UG was delayed earlier, the three-year-old entrance test of 2022 was also delayed due to bugs and technical glitches, the declaration of the result was made in September. This year universities were hoping for timely results, to start their academic session of 2024 but the results might be delayed due to the current conflicts.
