The highly anticipated fourth installment of the “Bad Boys” franchise, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, has finally received a release date. The film, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, is set to hit theaters on June 7, 2024.
The announcement comes after years of little news and slow progress, ensuring fans won’t have to wait as long as they did between previous installments. The release date for “Bad Boys 4” was confirmed by Will Smith, making it his next upcoming movie.
The original “Bad Boys” was released in 1995, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, followed by “Bad Boys 2” in 2003. The third film in the franchise, “Bad Boys for Life,” came out on January 14, 2020, leaving the option for the storyline to continue in future installments.
After years of little news, development on “Bad Boys 4” has now begun in earnest. In the surprisingly well-reviewed “Bad Boys for Life,” Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return to their roles as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively.
The film found them taking on drug lord Isabel Aretas (Kate del Castillo) and her deadly son Armando Armas (Jacob Scipio) who turns out to be Mike’s long-lost son. “Bad Boys 4” was quickly confirmed, but production did not start immediately. Fortunately, the next “Bad Boys” movie is on the way and news has begun to pour in.
The release date for “Bad Boys 4” was moved up to June 7, 2024, a full week earlier than its originally announced release date. The reason for the change is unclear since “Bad Boys 4” will no doubt be able to hold its own during the summer blockbuster season
