NEW DELHI, July 10, 2024 – Delhi Technological University (DTU) plans to make big changes to its academic programs by introducing new bachelor’s programs and a research-based MTech program starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. These changes aim to give students more flexibility, following the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Additionally, the university will introduce combined BSc and MSc programs in different subjects and create new centers of excellence.

MTech by Research Program

The MTech by Research program has been launched to further the research activities of the institute. Unlike regular MTech programs, which typically have three course-work semesters and one dissertation, the MTech by Research program will comprise two-thirds research and one-third coursework. This program is designed to help students decide more efficiently whether they should opt for a PhD.

With the new MTech by Research, the chances of getting placed in consultancies and research organizations will improve, and there will be fewer chances for these graduates to shift from technology to management domains. The syllabus of the new courses aligns with the aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) and follows the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) guidelines for a four-year undergraduate program (FYUP).

Developments Plans

DTU plans to expand its reach by establishing institutions in other locations, including potential centers in the Middle East. The university is also actively seeking industry collaboration to develop state-of-the-art labs and research centers.
