The first global VALORANT Champions Tour 2024 event, VALORANT Masters Madrid 2024, is set to kick off on March 14th, featuring eight teams from four regions. The tournament will showcase the best VALORANT talent in the world, as they compete for the prestigious Masters Madrid trophy, a share of the prize pool, and a spot in the VALORANT Champions 2024, the ultimate showdown of the year.
Teams
The eight teams that qualified for Masters Madrid are:
- LOUD and Sentinels from the Americas region
- FunPlus Phoenix and EDward Gaming from the China region
- Team Heretics and Karmine Corp from the EMEA region
- Paper Rex and Gen.G Esports from the Pacific region
These teams earned their spots by performing well in their respective regional Kickoff tournaments, which took place in January and February. They represent the cream of the crop of the VALORANT scene, with some familiar names and some rising stars.
Format
Masters Madrid features a unique two-stage format: the Swiss Stage and the Bracket Stage.
- Swiss Stage (March 14th – 18th): Teams are randomly drawn into four opening matches based on their Kickoff results. Winners face winners, while losers face losers, with no teams from the same region battling each other. This stage uses a Best-of-Three series format. Teams need two wins before accumulating two losses across a maximum of three rounds to advance.
- Bracket Stage (March 21st – 24th): The four teams emerging from the Swiss Stage enter a double-elimination bracket. A random draw determines their first opponents. Winners progress through the upper bracket, while losers drop to the lower bracket. A best-of-five series awaits in both the Lower Bracket Finals and the Grand Finals to determine the champion.
