NEW DELHI, July 13, 2024 – The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is set to host the 2024 edition of DD-Robocon on July 13 and 14, 2024, at New Delhi’s Thyagraj Stadium in association with Prasar Bharati. Over 750 students from more than 45 colleges, institutions, and universities across India will participate in this national-level event, which has been promoting technical skill development, innovation, and teamwork among engineering students for the past 23 years.
ABU-Robocon 2024
The DD-Robocon India 2024 event is a platform that provides visibility and recognition in the field of robotics, challenging participants to design and operate robots that can perform complex tasks within specific time frames. The winning team will have the honor of representing India at the international Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Robocon 2024, which will take place in QuangNinh, Vietnam, on August 25, 2024, under the theme “Harvest Day.”
“We would like to thank Prasar Bharati for allowing IIT Delhi and its knowledge partners, IHFC and FSM, to conduct this prestigious competition. It is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their skills and for the country to identify the winning team to represent India at the ABU-Robocon in Vietnam,” said SK Saha, Professor at IIT Delhi.
The journey to the final competition involved rigorous stages. Initially, 69 teams submitted proposals detailing the sizes and CAD drawings of their robots. From these, 66 teams were shortlisted for Stage 1 based on the quality of their proposals. In Stage 2, 56 teams submitted videos highlighting their robot subsystems. Ultimately, 46 teams were selected to compete in person in New Delhi, while four additional teams were invited to display their robots as exhibits.
