RIVONA, South Goa, July 16, 2024 – Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced during the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly that the permanent campus for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Goa) Goa will be established in Rivona village, South Goa. The Central government’s site selection committee has approved the proposed site, contingent upon the state government meeting certain conditions.
The selected site in Rivona, located in Sanguem taluka, marks a significant decision after previous attempts faced local opposition. The state government is currently verifying the land’s title documents to ensure clear ownership. The Central government’s site selection committee has inspected the location and deemed it suitable, provided the state government fulfills specified requirements, including infrastructure development and regulatory adjustments.
