Destiny 2 players have been eagerly awaiting the next major expansion, Into The Light, which is expected to launch later this year. The expansion promises to introduce new story content, locations, activities, and gear for Guardians to explore and collect. However, some of the gear might not be entirely new, as recent leaks suggest that some fan-favorite weapons from the past are making a comeback in Into The Light.

According to a post on Reddit by user u/LeakyBoi, who claims to have access to an early build of the expansion, several weapons from Destiny 1 and Destiny 2’s earlier seasons are returning in Into The Light. These include the legendary hand cannon Fatebringer, the exotic fusion rifle Vex Mythoclast, the exotic sniper rifle Ice Breaker, and the exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn. The post also includes screenshots of these weapons in the game’s inventory, as well as their updated perks and stats.

The post has received mixed reactions from the Destiny 2 community, with some expressing excitement and nostalgia for the returning weapons, while others questioning the authenticity and validity of the leak. Some also expressed concern that the returning weapons might overshadow the new ones, or that they might be locked behind difficult or tedious quests or activities.

Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has not confirmed or denied the leak, and has not revealed any official details about the weapons that will be available in Into The Light. However, the studio has previously stated that they are open to bringing back old weapons and armor, as long as they fit the theme and balance of the game. Bungie has also teased that Into The Light will feature some surprises and secrets for players to discover.

Destiny 2: Into The Light is slated to release in the fall of 2024, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia. The expansion will also mark the start of a new era for Destiny 2, as it will transition to a free-to-play model, with optional season passes and cosmetic microtransactions. Bungie has also announced that they are working on cross-play and cross-save features, which will allow players to play with and transfer their characters across different platforms.
