‘The Boys’, critically acclaimed Amazon Prime series, will end at the conclusion of its fifth season, as confirmed by showrunner Eric Kripke. This news was announced while the makers of the show were promoting its fourth season, which premieres Thursday on Amazon Prime Video.
Taking to X, creator and showrunner Eric Kripke announced, “#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
The series, based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, debuted in 2019 and has premiered three seasons till now, with the fourth season about to premiere this month. The show follows a team of vigilantes who take on a group of corrupt superheroes, backed by a corporate giant commercialising the superhero business and reaping profits off it. The show is a social commentary on capitalism, commercialisation, corruption and hero-worshipping.
The popularity of ‘The Boys’ show has resulted in the birth of two spin-off shows – ‘Gen V’ and ‘Diabolical’. Creator Eric Kripke also works as the Executive Producer of the show, along with other collaborators like Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, under their production company Point Grey Pictures.
The show stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Cameron Crovetti. The upcoming fourth season of ‘The Boys’ is due to introduce a new character which will be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
