Telugu superstar Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming magnum opus Kannappa is all set to release worldwide this year. Although the official release date of the fantasy film is yet to be announced, the makers of the film have decided to drop its teaser on Friday, June 14 to the anticipation of the fans. 

The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role, and features a host of other big names from the industry like Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Nayanthara, Kriti Sanon, as well as Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who played the role of Lord Shiva in this movie. In the recently held Cannes Film Festival, the teaser of Kannappa was unveiled and received a round of applause for its exceptional production quality and captivating visuals. The film is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and is produced by Mohan Babu through his companies AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. 

“After the unprecedented acclaim at Cannes, it is thrilling to say that we are bringing you the teaser of this amazing Katha Kannappa on June 14th. This movie has a special place in my heart. Eagerly waiting to invite you into the world of Kannappa,” revealed Vishnu Manchu. 

The film is based on the mythological story of Kannappa, a devotee of the Hindu God Shiva, and is set in the 14th century. Notably, the screenplay of the film Kannappa is written by Vishnu Manchu himself, based on a story developed by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G. Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad.

Taking to his social media handle, Vishnu Manchu wrote, “We showcased the teaser of Kannappa here in Cannes, and it received an overwhelmingly positive response! International distributors, local Indians, and everyone who saw it absolutely loved it. I am excited and have butterflies in my stomach after witnessing such fantastic reactions.” 

It has been reported that the movie is being made with a budget of more than Rs.300 crores. Originally shot in Telugu, the film is expected to be dubbed and released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English.
