With the much-anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 due to drop later this year, fans of this popular action gaming franchise can’t help but wonder about the makers of this newest instalment. The Call of Duty franchise have deployed multiple studios in the past to develop their video games, with Activision being the prime publisher of the franchise.

The COD Black Ops 6, much like its prequels, have also engaged several studios for its development process. Overall, there are 8 studios collaborating with each other, and working on different aspects of the game, to bring you the final version of the Black Ops 6 edition. Activision Blizzard, at the Call of Duty Direct, have announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released worldwide on October 25, 2024.

Like the previous iterations of the Black Ops series, Treyarch Studios is again in this list as the leading developer of the Black Ops 6. Raven Software, co-developer of the Black Ops Cold War edition, is also contributing to this upcoming COD instalment. Here is the full list of Activision-owned studios working the Black Ops 6 video game:

  • Treyarch Studios
  • Raven Software
  • High Moon Studios
  • Beenox
  • Sledgehammer Games
  • Activision Shanghai
  • Infinity Ward
  • Demonware

Based on the insider leaks, leading developer Treyarch Studios is entrusted with the development of Multiplayer and Zombies Modes of Black Ops 6. Their past collaborator Raven Software has reportedly worked on the single player story mode of the game. Also, according to rumours, COD Black Ops 6 will feature an open-world campaign, developed by the same Raven Software.

Set in the early 1990s, Black Ops 6 will play in the aftermath of the events that happened in the COD Black Ops Cold War game. According to Activision, the “spy action thriller” blends stealth-based gameplay with action in locations across Russia, the Middle East, the United States and southern Europe. Familiar faces from the Black Ops series like Frank Woods and Russell Adler will be joined by new characters, such as Troy Marshall and Jane Harrow in the upcoming instalment.
